Do you ever find yourself walking into a room and then immediately space out on why you’re there?
It’s happened to all of us at one time or another, and it happens more often than you might think! Our brains are like super-efficient organizers, constantly juggling and prioritizing information. And sometimes, In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, much like our computers, sometimes they just freeze up, and we need a moment to catch up and refocus.
Speaking of freezing up, the next time you find yourself standing in front of the open fridge, trying to remember what you were after, take a deep breath and let it go.
It’s just your brain doing a little tidy-up, making sure there’s room for the really important stuff. Like random pop culture trivia (Did you know that Mark Hamill, the man who played Luke Skywalker, went to the “Star Wars” auditions on the advice of a good pal – Robert Englund, better known to the world as screen slasher Freddy Krueger!), sports statistics (FYI, Michael Jordan’s highest scoring season was in 1986-87, when he averaged 37.1 points per game), and phone numbers you haven’t called in 30 years (Conquest School has been closed for years, and I still know the phone number is 856-2123!)
I admit, though, I’ve had moments where I’ve almost put things in the freezer that don’t belong there. Like my car keys.
Or, haven’t we all, at one time or another, been looking for our glasses or sunglasses, and realize they’ve been perched on top of our heads the whole time?
Over the Family Day long weekend, I had a moment that resulted in me getting back to Yorkton about an hour or so later than expected.
I jumped in the car to begin my journey back to Yorkton, around 2:30 Monday afternoon. I had been on the road for about half an hour, driving north on Highway 45, between Swanson and Delisle, when it suddenly dawned on me, that I didn’t have my phone with me. So I turned around, and about 30 minutes later, momentarily confused my parents when I walked back in the door at the farm.
My phone was exactly where I had left it – sitting on the windowsill in their bathroom! But, it’s not one of those things I can pick up the next time I head home. I have to have it – it’s my only phone, not to mention I need it for work!

But, what do you do? Brainfarts are just a part of life. Forgetful moments are just a part of life’s natural rhythm.
Remember, you’re in good company. We’re all navigating this wonderfully chaotic world together, one forgetful moment at a time. Here’s to embracing the unexpected and finding joy in the little things!
And, at least I’m not as forgetful as this guy…
