National Videogame Day

So, since moving to Yorkton I’ve been slacking when it comes to videogames. Ironic, I know. But as today is National Videogame Day (something that should be a stat imho), I decided to bust out some of my old favourites and kill some time. And my eardrums in the process.

Now, I’m kind of a sucker for nostalgia. And for me, nothing’s more nostalgic than playing Xbox games on an old CRT. While I don’t have an Xbox anymore, I do have an HDMI-VGA converter, and games like Bomb Rush Cyberfunk that are love letters to the stuff I played as a kid, or like Halo which has official PC ports. Imo, it’s the best way to bring back old memories, all the style with none of the jank. Well, almost none of the jank, because I always forget the high pitched ringing these old TVs put off. I guess it’s a good thing I can still hear it lol, but it definitely shortens the amount of time I’m willing to play these old games hahahaha

So, like most people, I turn to playing games on my phone (which don’t hurt to play), and the one that’s been taking up most of my time lately, Peglin. It’s a fun little pachinko type game, if you’ve ever played Peggle or Block Breaker it’s pretty similar, just with some fantasy flair. It’s like gambling without risking your rent money lol

So what about you, has today got you thinking about a nostalgic game from your childhood? Or maybe something you play to kill time at work? Don’t worry, I won’t tell your boss 😉
