Reader here! I’m someone ho likes to snack. A lot. And quite often, when I need to crush some food, my go-to is toast.
And I want to know… is there one particular thing you eat on toast more than anything else? For me, either I eat plain ol’ buttered toast (boring, I know), or I cover it in something I love way too much… Cheez Whiz!
I LOVE toast and Cheez Whiz! In fact to me, the best way to enjoy it is to make my toast a bit on the darker side, butter it up, and then smother it in cheesy goodness.
How much do I love this? Well, one New Year’s Eve when I was growing up, (with metabolism that seemingly burned up anything I ate in an instant), I comandeered the toaster and the jar of Cheez Whiz, and proceeded to crush an entire loaf of bread.
It’s something I can eat as a snack, or as a meal on it’s own, when I’m not particularly motivated to cook something. It’s perfect anytime!
Where did Cheez Whiz come from? I did a little digging with our AI assistant, and here’s what it turned up…
“Did you know that Cheez Whiz made its debut in the 1950s? Born out of a quest for convenience, this iconic cheese spread was the brainchild of Kraft Foods. It quickly became a staple in American households, revolutionizing the way we enjoy our favorite cheesy snacks. Perfect for nachos, burgers, or just straight out of the jar, Cheez Whiz brought a new level of cheesy goodness to our lives!”
However, I did a little more searching, and it seems Cheez Whiz got its start in Britain in 1952, a year before it hit the U.S..
Not only that, but the first person to hold the patent for processed cheese? A Canadian… James L.. Kraft! He got the patnt waaaaay back in 1916!
So I feel okay about my favourite treat, and don’t have to feel unpatriotic about eating it in theses topsy-turvy times!
Cheez Whiz has been ours all along!
Enjoy it all you like… it adds personality!
