Reader’s 2024 in a nutshell!

Hey, everybody… Reader here, one last time for 2024!

Can you believe how quickly this year has flown by? There’s so much that happened over the past 366 days (I forgot 2024 was a leap year!), and I thought I’d recap the year that was, with some of the stuff I got up to around here.

I guess the biggest change around hear was with what you hear at 94.1 (95.3 in Swan River, and 102.9 in Wapella), as the former Fox FM made the big change and, like a butterfly emerging from its cocoon, was reborn as Cruz FM following the Victoria Day long weekend.

Right from the start, you guys told us you’ve been digging it, and we love to hear it!

To celebrate the arrival of Cruz FM, we thought it was only right to throw a huge party, and so, on June 15, we were proud to welcome Canadian rock icons Honeymoon Suite to the Gallagher Centre!

As well, for a few weeks this summer, I jumped into something new, as I was entrusted to cover the agriculture desk on our sister station GX94, while Doug Falconer took some well-earned vacation time!

As well, in July, I was asked to MC the sendoff for Team Parkland Valley, as the got ready to head to Lloydminster for the Saskatchewan Summer Games. It was an honour and a pleasure to help send the team off in style!

In July, I got to welcome a new pal to the Cruz FM morning, show, as Grayson Cole joined me!

Also in July, I got to make my first-ever trip to the Northwest Roundup and Exhibition in Swan River, and it was a blast!

As part of it, I got to do something really cool, and MC the first of two performances of the RCMP Musical Ride. It was awesome!

Definitely one of the more uniquely Canadian experiences I’ve ever had!

On August 16th, we took a staff trip to see the Green & White in action at Mosaic Stadium…

Spoiler alert – Montreal won. (Womp womp.) But we still had a blast!

Also in August, I threw my running shoes back on, and tackled another 5K, with the Health Foundation Charity Road Race. Check out the “before” and “after!”

Speaking of “5K’s,” in September. Cruz FM’s “5K the Easy Way” returned, and we had the big VIP bash at the Painted Hand Casino, where the elimination draw resulted in a big win for one of our listeners:

As well. I squeezed in a little “me” time to go exploring…

At Halloween time, we had some fun out at the Yorkton Wildlife Federation Trap Club “Terror Trail!”

And finally, earlier this month, Grayson and I had the chance to head out to the Yorkton Campground, and take in the inaugural Legacy Co-op “Wonders of Winter,” presented by the Yorkton Lions Club!

And now, as 2024 comes to a close, it makes me wonder what’s in store for the year ahead? I can’t wait to find out.

Happy New year, and I’ll catch you in 2025!
