Exciting developments are ahead for the City of Melville.
Thanks to savings from recently completed capital projects, the city will soon embark on two additional road projects, ensuring smoother commutes and better infrastructure for residents.
City Manager Jolene Tuchscherer elaborated on the city’s plan:
“With the savings we achieved on paving, pathways, and sidewalk projects, along with the denial of the signage enhancement project through the Canada Community Building Fund, we were able to reallocate just over $183,000. We’re thrilled to announce that we will be undertaking two more road projects,” Tuchscherer said.
The upcoming projects will include the mill and fill of Columbia Street, stretching from Prince William Drive to Highway 10. Additionally, improvements will be made to Mall Road.
Both projects are slated for completion in September.
Heshka honoured by the City of Melville
The City of Melville has recently paid tribute to a long-standing and now retired city employee.
Dale Heshka dedication and service were recognized by naming an honorary structure “Heshka’s Lookout” at the city’s reservoir.
The recognition highlights Heshka’s invaluable contributions over the years.
Melville Mayor Walter Streelasky praised Heshka, stating, “Mr. Heshka is a valued member of our community who has played a crucial role in ensuring quality water and water security for our community, both now and in the future. His dedication has helped shape the very fabric of our city, ensuring that residents can rely on safe, clean water for generations to come.”
“Heshka’s Lookout” not only serves as a physical reminder of his impact but also provides residents and visitors with a picturesque spot to take in the beauty of the reservoir and its surroundings.
The dedication ceremony took place this past Friday at the Melville reservoir, drawing a crowd of residents, city officials, and well-wishers from around Saskatchewan came together to honor Heshka’s legacy.
