A Melville Regional Park Authority delegation presented to Melville City Council

Melville City Council has decided to deny to offer additional funds from the grant allocation ask for the Melville Regional Park for 2024. 

The Regional Park board had requested $70,000 in their grant application, and received roughly $56,000.

Council was told that the Regional Park will be operating at a deficit of $16,000 this year, following Confidential Committee of the whole, a motion was passed to deny the Melville Regional Park additional funding at this time, but to encourage members of their board to meet with City of Melville staff to go through their financials and budget in order to create a long-term, sustainable plan going forward.

City Manager Jolene Tuchsherer says they recognize the importance of the Regional Park in the community but also as a city, they have to be fiscally responsible & make sure taxpayers’ money is being used to the best of their ability & to its full extent. 

City declares this week as “National Public Works Week”

The City of Melville has declared this week as National Public Works Week, urging their residents to salute the hard work done by public works staff in the community. 

Mayor Walter Streelasky says he’s very appreciative of the work the staff does all year round

This year the National theme for Public Works Week is “Advancing Quality of Life for All”.
